3 Days Morocco Desert Tour

Merzouga is a small Moroccan town located in the Sahara Desert, near the Algerian border. Merzouga opens onto Erg Chebbi, a huge expanse of sand dunes north of the city. To the west is Dayet Srji, a seasonal salt lake, often dry in summer. When it fills up again, it attracts a wide variety of migratory and desert birds, including warblers, nightjars and, occasionally, flamingos.

In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakesch to start the first day of our trip. We will cross the Atlas Mountains and make a break to take pictures on the highest point of the mountains (2260 meters). You will enjoy the panoramic views of Tizi n'Tichka Mountain Pass with its Berber villages below. After passing this interesting area we will reach the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and explore it. This historical and touristic monument was appointed to a world heritage site by the UNESCO in 1987. We will stop for lunch there. Then we continue our way toward Dades valley passing through the rose valley, red Mountains and Dades river, along the way we will have stops in the best points to enjoy the picturesque views. After that we will drop you to your hotel where you will spend the night.

After breakfast in your hotel we will start directly our trip to Merzouga/Erg Chebbi, the Sahara desert. We will cross many old and interesting Berber villages on this way. The first stop will be in Todgha valley where you will have free time to hike and explore the gorges. After lunch we will drive toward Merzouga where your camels are waiting for you to bring you by an unforgettable adventure to your camp in the desert. In your camp you will have the chance to see the magical sunset in the desert and the starry sky. After dinner in the camp you will enjoy listening to traditional Berber music before sleeping.

In the morning after breakfast you will leave the camp in the desert, full of an unforgettable impressions from your lovely time there. Then we will start our trip to Fes, one of the imperial cities here in Morocco. Our first stop on this way is on the panoramic view of Ziz Valley and the Tafilalt. The valley presents a great view of the Palm trees (the second biggest of Palm trees in whole Morocco) between high cliffs, which date to the Jurassic period. After that we will go on, passing by Al Hassan Addakhil Dam, which is used to keep water for the Ziz valley agricultural and of course to provide flood protection. We will pass the Middle Atlas Mountains and reach Midelt, the Apple town of Morocco. It has got his name because it is located in the middle of an apple-growing area. There we will stop to have lunch. After this break we will drive for about 1,5 hours to stop in another interesting place. It‘s the Cedar forest of Azrou, where you will have the chance to see wild monkeys and to take pictures. We will continue our road to Ifrane City, known as the Switzerland of Morocco, and finish our tour in your hotel or riad in Fes.
