Itinerary

Itinerary

DAY 1: Fes to Merzouga

We will start our journey by picking you up from your hotel or riad in Fes. Our first stop will be at Ifran, a picturesque mountain village known as "the Switzerland of Morocco." After that, we will drive to Midelt, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Middle and Higher Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will stop at Azrou, a Berber village located in the middle of the famous cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, where you may spot Barbary apes.

After a brief stop in the forest, we will continue our journey to Midelt, where we will pass through the Tizi N'talghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, enjoying the breathtaking views of the High Atlas plateau. As we approach the city of Errachidia, you will notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert. We will have lunch and enjoy Berber hospitality in Errachidia before continuing our journey along the luxuriant Ziz Valley. Our final destination for the day will be Merzouga, where we will arrive in the afternoon. Upon arrival, we will welcome you with a glass of mint tea before your camel trekking adventure, guided by an experienced camel man, to explore the golden sand dunes of Merzouga. You will have dinner in front of the tent where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Merzouga to Marrakech

We will start early to enjoy the sunrise from the top of a high dune close to the camp, and then return to Merzouga on camels for a heartwarming breakfast. After breakfast, we will leave the desert and head towards Rissani, where we can visit the market place (market days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday), before continuing to Erfoud. Here we can visit the manufactures of fossilized marble before starting our way to Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves.

One hour later, we will reach one of the best places of the High Atlas, the Todra Gorges. The course of the river has carved out cliff-sided canyons, making it popular among climbers. We recommend a short walk through the gorges to appreciate the beauty of the landscape fully. After lunch, we will continue our journey to the Dades valley, also known as the figs valley, passing through Boumalne Dades and stopping at the "monkey legs."

On day two, our final destination will be Marrakech. After breakfast, we will enjoy one of the best views of the Dades valley from a strategic lookout in the mountains before continuing along a road dotted with different kasbahs of touristic interest. After some stops to enjoy the "One thousand kasbahs road," the Roses Valley, and the big Skoura palm grove, we will get to Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, an old residence of the Glaoui or Marrakech pasha. If you are interested, we can also visit the cinema studios and the cinema museum.

Half an hour from Ouarzazate, we will stop at the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Many famous films have been shot in this spectacular location, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, etc.

After lunch in town, we will continue our journey to Marrakech, passing through the mountain port of Tizi Ntichka with some stops to take pictures. Here we will leave behind the moon landscape and reach another view full of colors. As we approach Marrakech, we will notice how the scenery changes from the desert to lush greenery. Upon arrival in Marrakech, we will transfer you to your hotel and end our services.
